The Family History Group usually meets from 2.00pm to 3.30pm on the 3rd Monday of each month in Room 11, on 2nd Floor of Widnes Library, Victoria Square, WA8 7QT. There are car parking places and bus stops nearby. Attendees pay £2 per session to cover the cost of room hire. All members and prospective members are welcome, it doesn't matter of you haven't started researching your family tree or even if you have no intention of doing so. For those who do want to research their family history but aren't sure how to start, we offer one-to-one sessions at dates to suit you in your local library to show you the basics and get you started. You may be surprised at what you find out about your family.

Our Group Leader has outlined how the program for the next few months will proceed. Our first discussion, on 16th March, was about the search for Irish Family records and was well recived by the 18 members present. 20th April, Hidden Secrets of the 1939 Register, 118th May, 'I Didn't Expect To Find That'. 15th June WW1 & WW2 Military Records and 20th July 'A House Thru Time', researching your home. It is hoped that you will find something of interest in the program. If you would like to describe some aspects of your own research, then please consider making a presentation to our Group.
